Tip of the Week Hang Good Laundry to Dry for Energy Savings

By good laundry, I mean dress clothing such as shirts, dresses, tops and pants. I usually hang shirts or fold pants over the hanger the same as I would to store them, then place the hangers where the items can dry overnight. Best place is where air can circulate freely around them. Then store them in your closet the next morning when they're dry.

Hanging these good items to dry has more benefits than merely saving on dryer use and energy, it keeps them looking nicer longer. You're also saving a handling step between drying and folding, and I seldom have to iron because air drying on hangers cuts down on wrinkles.

Tip: Use only non-metal hangers though to ensure no rust on your garments.

Want even more energy savings? Hang your entire wash outdoors to dry.
